All's Well That Ends Well--Salem's Podcast #1
In April 2018, Senator Kamala Harris was one of many politicians that backed FOSTA-SESTA, the “Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act.” The fall out for sex workers was devastating.
Salem, a traveling dancer in California, felt the direct impact of that bill by February 2019. This is just a piece of her powerful story.
Thanks for listening and feedback is always welcome.
Social media growth remains exciting, challenging and daunting.
I met a small group of like-minded women that lived near San Francisco when I was maybe ten-years-old, living eight hours away. My parents didn’t particularly enjoy it, but they were like older sisters to me at the time.
We messaged through AIM chat like we were buddies that went to different schools. I can’t sit here and recall a conversation today, but I can discuss the impact it had to meet other creative people at that age.
To date, I don’t meet many other writers in my small town. When y...

No, I don’t want to spend 15 minutes watching commercials during an hour-long episode of Game of Thrones. However, I’ll admit that I’ve found services and products through ads frequently.
The streaming service Hulu lets you choose your ad experience, so some places it’s not so bad to deal...

Digital Convergence Brings Change To All Media Landscapes.
Learning multimedia is not easy. To some, it is first nature; it is a little bit of an unwanted appendage you grew to respect anyway. There’s a reason why some choose to learn in a class setting instead of watching YouTube videos on their own. Trying to wing something doesn’t usually end with enticing results. This is where media literacy comes into play.

Technolgy Creates Anti Social Youth
With technology being so advanced yet so accessible nowadays, it’s easy to fall into an undiagnosed form of addiction, and the millennial generation is no exception. This attachment to technology has aided in unprecedented social withdrawal and the deterioration of mental health in young adults. Overworked and overstressed, college students are prime targets for becoming sucked into any screen in front of them.

Pipeline protestors being flushed out
While the majority of the nation seems to sleep soundly at night, North Dakota has been host to one of the biggest standoffs in recent history, between Native Americans and militarized police.
Energy Transfer Partners, owned by Sunoco Logistics, is a corporate shill that has no business tampering with land that is not theirs. With the protests inciting a police presence, the cost of blocking access to the pipeline has risen over $10 million thus far, according to DemocracyNow.
However, the co...
California legislation makes vaping a tobacco product and raises the age restriction to 21
In a matter of a few short years, vaping has gone from being a so-called healthy alternative to a worrisome trend. A new product that was said to be cheaper and healthier than cigarettes understandably created an excuse bandwagon. But over the summer, the bandwagon broke down for the younger generation following this vapor trail.
California Senator Ed Hernandez signed a regulation in June which prohibited those under the age of 21 to purchase tobacco products, finally including vapor.

Gov. Jerry Brown needs to rethink the future of medical marijuana and keep it from the greedy hands of mainstream corporations
Just like the disastrous high-speed rail debacle, the fate of recreational and medicinal marijuana rests in the unfit hands of California Gov. Jerry Brown. Brown intends to merge the Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MCRSA) and Proposition 64, which effectively severs the limbs of California’s booming marijuana industry.
A Feb. 14 report released by the U.S. Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) found that mending Proposition 64 and MCRSA together at this time draws uncertainty because...

Celebrity bias promotes rape culture by giving a pass to those in power
There’s nothing like a fresh reminder that rape culture is alive and well, as it is perpetuated by celebrities and those giving them free passes for the horrendous crimes they commit. While there might be some good examples, they are few and far between.
The only somewhat positive response to sexual assault allegations comes in the form of Bill O’Reilly’s recent dismissal from Fox.
The so-called “King of Cable News” was involved in five sexual harassment lawsuits, equating to about $13 millio...
